GODRI ORBAN
Bassoon

Gödri Orban graduated from the ‘Ciprian Porumbescu’ Music Academy in Bucharest, where his main bassoon teacher was Professor Gh. Cuciureanu. Professors Francisc Laszlo, Radu ChiÈ™u and Aurel Niculescu were his mentors in orchestra and chamber music studies.

Gödri Orban has participated in master classes with Professor Romano Santi in Italy. He has won numerous prizes in musical competitions, as well as national awards, and in 2004 he was awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit, 2nd class, by the President of Romania.

Gödri Orban has performed as a soloist with several orchestras in Romania (Bacău, ConstanÈ›a, Sibiu, IaÈ™i, BucureÈ™ti) and abroad (France, Italy, Japan, USA). He has made several radio and CD recordings as a member of different chamber music ensembles.

Gödri Orban is currently the principal bassoon player in the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra of Bucharest.

He is an active participant in the Romanian musical life and since 2013 he is a bassoon teacher at the ICon Arts Academy. Since 2010 he is an Associate Professor within the bassoon department of the National University of Music, Bucharest.
