The Project “Music: a bridge between people” was born in 2013 from Ipsia Acli Forlì-Cesena. The project follows a consolidated path which every year finds out confirms and new stimulus oriented to its own whole improvement: since 2019 the project has been taken charge by No.Vi.Art (non-violence arts), name which was acquired in May 2019 by the historic pacifist association of Forlì “Alon-Gan”, that since the 80s has been working on non-violent resolution of conflicts and peace topics. The aim of this project is giving a chance between participants for a concrete experience of coexistence and dialog among different cultures through music.

The project is directed mainly towards Balkan countries joining also Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Romania, and Greece.

There are two main appointments: first, the summer classes, a preparatory phase in Prizren which takes place in July. During this summer class there will be lessons and practice time, chamber music formations, and “Festival della musica giovane del Mediterraneo” which takes place in September in Forlì. Young musicians, between 8 and 21 years old, are encouraged to deal with a different reality using music, a universal language with no words and English as common language.

The aim of summer classes is to create “ Giovane orchestra paneuropea”, different year after year, and Balkan Music Workshop.

The first one is oriented to study the execution of an international classic repertoire in order to create a common knowledge background to highlight peculiarities and different techniques learned in their own countries.

The second one, Balkan music workshop is inspired by the musical and cultural background which most of the participants belong to, even if they do not normally experience it as instrumental transcription and classic ensemble, a way to enhance technical competence and high interpretative capacity.

Listening to these traditional songs permits to know and appreciate all typical cultural expression from the countries which are involved, recognizing also songs played by other countries that were considered exclusively part of their own traditional culture. It is useful for teachers and students.

All these experiences create always new ideas and considerations promoting a deep cooperation between partners.
