Born in Cesena in 1975, he started playing the cello at the age of 7, under the guidance of the teacher Leonello Godoli. Thanks to a scholarship he then studied at the United World College of the Atlantic from 1992 to 1994, under the guidance of Sharon McKinley and it was introduced to the baroque playing technique by the baroque violinist Katherine Mackintosh.

In 1995 he won the First Price at the “Dino Caravita” Competition and was awarded the “Diploma di Violoncellista” at the Royal Philharmonic Academy in Bologna in 1997.  In 1998 he got the Diploma at the “G. Verdi” Music Conservatory in Milan after having studied with Rocco Filippini both at the “W. Stauffer Academy” in Cremona and the Conservatory in Milan.

He followed further studies with the teachers Mario Brunello, Krista Butzberger, PierNarciso Masi and the “Trio di Milano”. In 2013 he also got the Baroque Cello Diploma Cum Laude and Mention of Honour in Cesena with the teacher Mauro Valli.

He has been First Cellist at Teatro Regio Orchestra in Turin, Orchestra Internazionale d´Italia, and part of many Symphonic Orchestras in Italy under great conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Julien Kovacev, Donato Renzetti, Salvatore Accardo, Lu Jia, Lorin Maazel performing in China, Malaysia, Macau, Korea, Thailand, France, Great Britain, Germany, Chek Republik, Denmark, Egypt, Canada.

He is a member of the contemporary music ensemble FontanaMix in Bologna, of the ArtreTrio, and of several baroque groups, among which I Barocchisti in Lugano, Auser Musici in Pisa, Accademia degli Astrusi in Bologna with whom he has recorded for Decca, Sony, Glossa, with artists such as Cecilia Bartoli, Sara Mingardo, Philippe Jaroussky.

At present he is principal cellist of the Bruno Maderna Orchestra in Forlì, and of the Orchestra Filarmonica Gioachino Rossini in Pesaro. He teaches cello at the Istituto Musicale “A. Corelli” in Cesena, and baroque cello at the Conservatory of Music “Bruno Maderna” in Cesena.

He plays: Italian cello by Unknown from first half of XVIII century and an Italian cello by Custode Marcucci year 1897.
